Research Hub wins an IT award for excellence in research support
The Hub Development Team at the Centre for eResearch recently won the inaugural CAUDIT (Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology) award for Excellence in Research Support for their project “The Research Hub: Design and Realization of Better Connected Research IT Support Services”.
The University of Auckland’s Research Hub was launched in 2017 creating a single place where researchers can find and request IT and general research support services from across the University.
To date, requesting data management workshops, research data storage, and support for research computing such as virtual machines or access to the Nectar Research Cloud are the most common user activities on the Research Hub.
The project team consists of Dr Cameron McLean, Dr Sam Kavanagh and Noel Zeng from the Centre for eResearch.
Development of the Research Hub is continuing, with improvements and features to services and request processes being rolled out incrementally. Feedback and ideas from the community are welcomed. Future enhancements include expanding support services to cover the entire research project and research data lifecycles.
Dr Cameron McLean a member of the project team said, “Research can move at the speed of thought, so should our research support services. More discoverable and better connected services help our researchers move faster, with greater integrity and impact. “
The Research Hub is intended primarily for researchers and research support staff across all faculties at the University. To learn more visit the Research hub page.
